A Birthday to Remember
Turning 35 was a big deal for me and the celebration(s) were even bigger.
I decided to go to the very top section of my travel bucket list and take my first of hopefully many trips to Africa. This was, by far, one of the most amazing experiences EVER! From the food and people, to the history and culture, I know I’ve only scratched the surface of everything Africa has to offer.
Check out these FAQs about this trip.
Where in Africa did you travel?
I spent 12 days in Africa exploring Cairo, Egypt and Marrakech, Morocco.
What was your favorite place?
I loved learning about the Egyptian history but Morocco is an entire VIBE, one you’d just have to experience for yourself.
What was your favorite part of?
In Egypt, I definitely have to say seeing and touching the pyramids was pretty mind blowing. Just knowing they were created with no modern technology or machinery really makes me realize just how lazy humans have become.
Visiting the medinas in Morocco and the hot air balloon ride are tied for 1st place. We bought everything from beauty products, vintage Berber carpets, custom shoes, and beautiful lanterns. We shopped and shopped and SHOPPED! For me, being able to interact with the craftsmen and women who spend many days, weeks and sometimes months creating all of these things to make a living was so inspirational.
How was the food?
I couldn’t have imagined a more fresh and flavorful cuisine. I definitely preferred the variety of restaurant options in Marrakech and the dinner entertainment was always phenomenal! I definitely adopt a pescatarian diet while traveling and there was an abundance of seafood options, which I was grateful for.
Would you go back?
In. A. Heartbeat!
